Stargazer: Glitter Shakers

Now as its the festive season, we have the perfect excuse to bring out the glitter!

You can't deny that at Christmas everyone needs a little sparkle, and the perfect way to do it is by incorporating some into your eye makeup.

Glittery looks are becoming so popular at the moment and with many of my clients requesting a sparkly look for a night out or special occasion, I thought i would show you what i use to create the perfect glitter eye.

 

 

To add some stunning sparkle to any look I use these Glitter shaker pots by Stargazer.

They come in a range of different colours, you can use them on your body, hair & nails.

 

Below are a few colours from my kit, as you can see the glitter is very fine so its perfect for makeup.

I order mine from the Stargazer website, they cost around £3 each and each pot contains 5g of product.

So what i do with these is start off by applying a base shadow matching the colour of the glitter I'm using. I apply it all over the lid and blend well up to the crease.

Once blended, I apply a thin coat of clear glitter eyeliner over the eyeshadow and the quickly taking a small flat brush pat the glitter over the top. Once dry i take a brush and dust of the excess glitter, then wipe the under-eye area to remove any fallout before i move on to the base.

 

You can also you lash glue to adhere the glitter with, and most people use that method.

I prefer to use a clear glitter eyeliner, for me its much more quicker and easier this way and it has the same results.

As you can see i have started on the eyes first, and i would always recommend doing so when using glitter. If you do your foundation first, your just going to end up with glitter all over your face and that's not the kind sparkle we want! ;)

 

You can see in the picture above the colour of the glitter is so pretty and how amazing it looks in the light.

Shingar Patti/Matha Patti: My top picks

So after my post on my real bride makeover it got me thinking about Shingar Patti's.

A Shingar Patti is an Indian bridal headpiece worn traditionally by brides and this year they were everywhere! From the covers of most Asian bridal magazines to real life brides adorning them, we just couldn't get enough. 
So with it looking like they will be even more popular next year, I've put together a little guide for all those brides to be on finding the perfect one.

In the past few years Asian bridal makeup & fashion has been taken to a whole new level, so its not surprising that Shingar Patti's have come back with a bang.
Personally i can understand why, for me the right Shingar Patti can bring the whole bridal look together.

The size is just right if you have more larger features, as it will complement your face well.

This next one is a stunning piece its quite similar to the one my bride wore in my last post.
I would say this piece works well if you have a narrow face giving you more width and dimension.
Its also perfect if your going for the traditional look, adding just enough glamour.

So if you really want to stand out from the crowd on your big day, then this is the one for you.

Its a gorgeous piece that will give you an ultra glamorous look.

It can be worn with either an extravagant or minimal outfit. If you have a wider face then this one is perfect for you as it will elongate your face nicely.



Now its not only on the Asian bridal scene that headpieces are making their mark.

The gorgeous Kim Kardashian wore a beautiful diamond head piece on her wedding last year to Kris Humphries and sadly, although the wedding didn't last.................The headpiece trend did :)

There were a whole range of jewelled headpieces on Asos this summer, and are still available from various other retailers. Check out a few from this store LIBERTY IN LOVE who have a stunning collection of pieces.

Real Bride

So today's post is about hair & makeup i did on a recent bridal client of mine.

As you guys know i specialise in Asian bridal makeup, so thought i would share a few pics of a recent stunning bride of mine.

 

Sheema was one of the most nicest brides i have ever made up and it was a pleasure doing her makeup.

She even booked me without a trial beforehand, saying she loved my work so she didn't feel a trial was necessary which was so sweet.

 

Sheema opted for a traditional red lengha with a hint of green for the bridal outfit.
To complement the outfit i choose gold and bronze for the eye makeup with a touch of green, black liner over the lid and finished off the eyes with a double Arabic style flick.
I used Nars taos for the blush on the cheeks.
On the lips i used Mac Russian red to finish the whole look.

I absolutely loved Sheema's jewellery, it was beautiful especially the head piece which is so on trend at the moment.
I'm seeing a lot of head pieces in all the Asian bridal magazines at the moment.
They really complement the Asian bridal outfits in my opinion.

 

 

 

For the hair i created a beehive on the front and a big bridal bun on the back with lots of detailing.

As the bridal veil on Asian bridal outfits tends to be very heavy its essential that the bun is very secure as it will be holding a lot of weight.

Vintage glamour part 2!

Hello!

So this is the second look from the vintage glamour shoot, as you can see the makeup i did is quite bold & exotic. You guys may have noticed that my makeup style is heavily influenced from the Arabic/Middle Eastern style of makeup. I really love the vibrant colours they use and to me Arabic makeup is just so beautiful :)

Thats why i love creating Arabic looks on my clients & Models.

For this look I created a heavy cat liner on the bottom lash line to really accentuate the models amber eyes. On the lids I used golds & blacks with a hint of turquoise.

I created a big beehive with the hair & kept the lips a strong baby pink colour to add a twist of 60's glamour to the images.

 

While putting these pics up, i thought i would add a quick review on a fantastic product i have just discovered. Its these gorgeous lipsticks by Accessorize!

I bought them on a spur of the moment while i was in Superdrug.

I never really paid much attention to the Accessorize cosmetics line before coming across these. 

So when i got them a few weeks ago they were on offer at 2 for £5 so i thought why not give them a try, for that price you cant go wrong.
Now after using them i love them! The colours are so pretty and pigmented.
They retail for £4.95 each but i believe Superdrug have a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment. So im hoping to pop in and pick a few more shades up.

The colours i have are Lovestruck a bright fuchsia & Besotted a more lighter baby pink.

I used these in the makeup for the shoot above, i mixed both colours together to create the perfect pink for this look.

The staying power is good, i would say they last 2-3 of hours before you need to reapply but for the price that's not bad. The formula is also quite creamy & easy to apply on the lips.
They kind of remind my of NYX lipsticks which i also really like.
These belong in my kit so as you can see Ive been scraping the bullet, to apply with a brush.

 

Aside from the actual product, i totally love the packaging! Its floral & pretty, so it really makes them stand out from other high street cosmetic brands.

 

 

After my positive experience with Accessorize lipsticks, I'm looking forward to trying out more products from this range.

Urban Decay Vice Palette & Bridal Shoot.

Hi Beautifuls,

This season Urban Decay launched the Vice palette, and after watching countless reviews on Youtube I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

So on the 26th of September i rushed over to my local counter in Debhanams and picked it up as fast as i could. I know how it is with Ud palettes, if you don't snap it up it could be weeks before new stock arrives.

So personally i absolutely adore this palette, with 20 brand new shades i knew i had to have it.

The colour pay off is great, but if you use the Nyx jumbo pencil in white underneath then the colours really do pop. Likewise the primer potion also works great, although I prefer the jumbo pencil as in my opinion it really brings out the colour of the shadows.

For me this palette is an overall winner, and as it contains a range of mattes, shimmers, satins, neutrals and brights, there’s something for everyone :)

Also considering you get 20 shadows for £42 it is well worth the money.

Another bonus is that it comes with a double ended crease brush which is much better then receiving a tiny bottle of primer potion that usually has hardly any product in it.

Which is why I'm glad UD used their brains & skipped out on that, & actually gave us quite a decent brush with the palette.

I used this palette in the image below when i did an Asian Bridal themed shoot.

As you can the colours show true on & off camera.

For this look I used Blitz on the lid, Noise in the crease with a bit of Black Market blended in the outer corner & Echo beach to highlight.

The colours really complimented the outfit which was so stunning!!

Although you can see how beautiful its was, fully embroidered from head to toe. 

Also very heavy too!!



This is my Palette, I like the packaging & layout of the shadows.
It has a great mirror too, & its very sturdy which means it will stay safe in my kit no matter how much i chuck it about :)
Excuse the state of mine its been used quite a bit already lol.







A closer look at the colours, I think my fave's are Junkie & provocateur at the moment.

Vintage Glamour

Hey Ladies :)

I have not been blogging in ages, but in my defence I have been crazy busy ;)
Its been a hectic couple of months trying to fit in photoshoot's & Bridal bookings.

I have had the pleasure of making up some absolutely stunning real brides, which for me is the best part of the job.

So I'm back now with loads of new photo's & info.

A couple of weeks ago I did a 60's inspired shoot, with a slight Arabian twist to the makeup.
We did the shoot here in Manchester with two stunning models, Monica & Izsum.
May I add it was Freezing!! These two girls did an job amazing holding up with the cold.
I really do admire them, I was there wrapped up from head to toe! ;)

This is one of the looks I created a more vintage look with subtle eyes & stunning red lips.

On another note I went watch the new James Bond Movie last night & I loved it!!

I'm not usually into action movies but I really enjoyed this one.

Plus the Gorgeous Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe looked gorgeous! I just love this look she wore in the movie, very vintage. I would love to recreate this look!! Xx

Face Of The Shoot

Today i thought i would do a Face Of The Shoot Post
A new thing I'm trying of FOTS :)
I will share the makeup products i used on this model, to create this look for a Persian inspired shoot a few weeks ago.

It was so much fun doing this shoot, I did makeup on location as luckily the weather was beautiful!
Which made my life a hell of a lot easier, imagine doing someones makeup and the wind is blowing away all of the pigment you've just took out :(
I don't take kindly to my £16.50 M.A.C pigments flying about in the wind! Lol

The model was the a lovely girl Monica who was a pleasure to work with & already naturally stunning without my help.
I worked with a great photographer call Jay Portfolio.
Both Hair & Makeup were done by me.

Retexturizing Face Primer.

Foundation & Powder:
Mac Prolong wear in Nw20 + Bobbi Brown sheer finish loose powder.


Blush & Highlight:
NARS Deep Throat + mac Msf in soft & gentle.
Chanel Bronze universel to contour slightly.


Eyeshadow:
Mac Electra on inner lid
Mac Carbon outer corner
Mac Rose Pigment just above the crease
Dior Shimmer Powder 002 in Amber Diamond on the brow bone to highlight.
Mac black track fluidline

Lips:

Mac please me lipstick

Barry M Pastel pink lip gloss.
Then finally........I set it all with my fave Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray!

Weekend Shoot & Catch up :)

Hey Dolls!
I have been MIA for sooooo long!!
So I thought i better get back on it :) Have had a crazy couple of months with the mad wedding season & other shoots. Great fun never the less ;)
